The situation regarding Frenkie de Jong's contract renewal at Barcelona continues to evolve, as recent reports indicate that discussions will now be scheduled for after the conclusion of the current season.
According to MARCA, while Frenkie De Jong remains under contract with the club until June 2026, this pause in negotiations suggests that a more informed decision about his future at Camp Nou will be made in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Frenkie De Jong's agent and Deco's meeting halted
Earlier this month, De Jong's agent, Ali Dursun, and Barcelona's sporting director, Deco, held discussions regarding the player's future. While no immediate decisions were reached, both parties decided it would be beneficial to revisit negotiations at the end of the season or once the club's sporting situation becomes clearer.
Frenkie De Jong is open to the idea of continuing with Barcelona, though he approaches the situation with caution due to previous problems and the club's earlier interest in transferring him. However, with Hansi Flick's backing the Dutch may extend his stay at Catalan club.
El Nacional reported that Liverpool is among the clubs interested in acquiring the services of the Dutch midfielder, with Deco having received interest from the Premier League club.
Frenkie De Jong is considering his options for a potential free transfer in the future, which would include a lucrative signing bonus. His current contract is set to expire in June 2026, but Barcelona is determined to resolve the situation this summer to prevent losing him without compensation. Should he agree to renew, the club will restructure his contract to enhance their financial flexibility.
