The English striker Ivan Tony is on the verge of securing a significant transfer, albeit not to the elite Premier League club he initially anticipated. Toney is now on the brink of joining one of Saudi Arabia's major clubs, with Al-Ahli putting forth an enticing contract offer that he has largely agreed to. Despite this, Toney has been hesitant to make a definitive decision regarding the move to Saudi Arabia.

Earlier, the Jeddah-based, Saudi Giants Al-Ahil requested the player to convey his decision regarding the transfer by Monday night. Based on Ben Jacobs' report, Toney has indicated his willingness to move to the Saudi Pro League. Furthermore, the player has successfully negotiated personal terms with Al-Ahli and is set to earn nearly €60 million throughout a three-year contract.

Brentford's ask for the transfer

The Bees are making an ask of approximately €60m for the English player, which has been his price all summer.

Brentford is seeking a similar fee to what Al-Hilal paid for Fulham's Aleksandar Mitrovic last year. However, as of now, Al-Ahli is only willing to pay around €50m.

The Saudi team is currently the only one negotiating for Toney, but Jacobs advises caution as there may still be interest from European teams. Chelsea and Manchester United are both reportedly interested but have not made a move yet due to his age and the price.

Saad Al-Lazeez, vice-chair of the Saudi Pro League, and sporting director Michael Emenalo are currently spearheading negotiations. Despite Brentford's rejection of a bid of up to £35m, including add-ons, just two days before their Premier League loss to Crystal Palace discussions are ongoing. Ivan Toney, who was notably excluded from the matchday squad, has not been featured for the Bees since. With the Saudi Pro League transfer window closing on September 2, officials are eager to swiftly finalize an agreement to preempt any potential last-minute attempts by European clubs.
