Cristiano Ronaldo: The Greatest Goal Scorer of All Time

It's amazing to reflect on Ronaldo’s incredible achievements in Europe’s top club competition, which he has accomplished over more than 18 years. His outstanding contributions will be honoured during the inaugural 2024/25 UEFA Champions League 36-team league phase draw ceremony, scheduled to take place on Thursday, 29 August, at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.

Having represented Sporting Clube de Portugal, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus, Ronaldo has scored a phenomenal 140 Champions League goals in 183 appearances. This puts him 11 goals ahead of Lionel Messi and an impressive 46 goals in front of third-placed Robert Lewandowski at the top of the scoring charts.

The Legend of CR7 in the Champions League only grew with time. Having finished seven separate Premier League seasons as the top scorer, which is already more than any other player in the history of the competition, Ronaldo's aura only grew as the years passed.

From his youthful days at Manchester United in 2007/08, where he scored 8 times, Ronaldo ended up doubling his goal tally during Real Madrid's champion run in the 2013-14 season, where he found the net a record 17 times ( a record that still stands today ).

The charismatic Portuguese forward has won the Champions League a record 5 times and is the only player to have scored in 3 different Champions League finals - 2008, 2014, and 2017.

Ronaldo currently holds the record for the longest Champions League scoring streak, having struck in 11 successive matches from June 2017 to April 2018. Additionally, he has scored an amazing eight Champions League hat-tricks.
