In a dramatic turn of events, Chelsea’s proposed move to sign Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion has collapsed. It has been widely reported that the Blues have agreed to a £34.5million (€40m) deal with Madrid for the star forward on a seven-year contract.

However, according to the latest update, Omordion's transfer failed due to a major issue in finalising the agreement. The 20-year-old is understood to have failed in his medical test. Notably, he was sidelined for the gold medal game between Spain and France at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Although he did not feature in the summit clash, in which Spain triumphed 5–3 over the hosts, Omordion played a key role in their success.  The football fraternity assumed that his absence was due to a concerted move with Chelsea, but that was not the case.

Chelsea seek possibility of signing Joao Felix

Samu Omorodion, who spent last season on loan at Deportivo Alaves, could extend his contract at Stamford Bridge by another year. Meanwhile, as the proposed deal ends on the losing side, Chelsea are eyeing the possibility of signing Joao Felix.

They are already in talks for the Portuguese attacker, who is also being targeted by Aston Villa. It would be a huge gain for Chelsea if they get Felix's services for £113 million. The star striker scored four goals in 16 games during a brief loan spell under Graham Potter and Frank Lampard in the 2022/23 campaign. He spent last season with Barcelona, scoring 10 goals and providing five assists in 41 outings.

It is noteworthy that in June, Chelsea had a €32.5m (£27.4m) plus add-ons offer rejected for Omorodion. The young lad scored nine goals and provided one assist for Alaves, who finished 10th in La Liga.
