Almost two years after serving as the official representative of the group that purchased Chelsea, Todd Boehly is rumoured to be thinking about selling his shares. Clearlake Capital, the majority owner of Chelsea, is reportedly still devoted to the team and will not be selling any of its 62 percent investment.

While they are willing to buy out Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital is unwilling to sell their Chelsea interests. Despite rumours that the owners are in talks to buy each other out, Clearlake, the majority owner of Chelsea, is said to be fully dedicated to the team and is resisting selling any of the company's 62 percent stake.

Behdad Eghbali, a co-founder of Clearlake, and Boehly, are co-owners of the Premier League club. According to Bloomberg, their relationship has gotten worse in recent months, and both parties are considering their alternatives. According to Sky Sports News, Eghbali and Clearlake have decided not to sell any of their 61.5% stake in the company.

They have not been under any sort of obligation to sell, nor are they in discussions about selling shares. Clearlake is willing to purchase shares from other investors who wish to sell. According to sources, there is a professional relationship between Todd Boehly and Eghbali.

What’s next for Chelsea’s owner following this turmoil?

Before the season's first match at Stamford Bridge versus Manchester City, Boehly stood in the Clearlake box. Clearlake thinks they have the squad and organisational framework in place to lead the team back to the summit following a period of turmoil. Because of Chelsea's ownership structure, Boehly and the other owners have had to approve all major decisions.

The Chelsea chairmanship is now held by Boehly, and it is set to be passed on every five years. According to reports, Clearlake Capital have thought to ‘nominate their own representative to take the chairmanship at the earliest opportunity in 2027, but it now seems certain that the ownership structure will change before then’.
