Noni Madueke scored a hat-trick in 15 minutes during Chelsea's thrilling 6-2 victory over Wolves, proving that he had liked going to the midlands despite all. After making disparaging remarks about the region of Wolverhampton in an Instagram post that has since been removed, Madueke faced backlash from the supporters. However, his treble in the second half and Joao Felix's debut goal secured Enzo Maresca's first victory as manager.
Chelsea put on an incredible second half performance following a breathless opening 45 minutes that resulted in a 2-2 draw. The visitors took an early lead thanks to Nicolas Jackson, but Matheus Cunha rightfully equalised. Cole Palmer gave the Blues an unexpected lead just before halftime, but Jorgen Strand Larsen had time to tie the score well into stoppage time.
Before Pedro Neto came off the bench versus his former team to set up Joao Felix for his second club debut, Palmer produced all three of Madueke's goals. Lemina gave Wolves hope with a goal, but the referee called his shot off because Toti was offside during the build-up.
Shortly after, in the 80th minute, Joao Felix, marking his second debut alongside the Blues, was set up by Neto, and he tucked it home to give Chelsea a 6-2 lead. After a strong showing on the away day, Chelsea managed to seal the victory in the end.
Chelsea post hilarious tweet after Noni Madueke’s horror Instagram show
Noni Madueke posted an Instagram story with the location "Wolverhampton" and the caption, "Everything about this place is s***". The winger promptly removed it, but not before his followers snapped photos and he responded with, "Damnn wrong instagram account. You all are too fast.”
Chelsea also posted a tweet with his picture after the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers, with the caption, “He is starting to like this place after all”. Newcastle is one among the teams reportedly interested in signing Madueke this summer, although Blues manager Enzo Maresca has stated he wants the attacker to stay.
