There is still no news regarding French players being fine with Enzo Fernandez after the whole debacle surrounding his racist comments towards France. Last month, a lot of Chelsea players especially from France unfollowed Enzo on social media as they did not like his racist chants towards the French people.
All of this is the result of Enzo Fernandez's own error. He appeared on Instagram while aboard the Argentina team vehicle, where the players were rejoicing over their recent Copa America victory. It was discovered during that live recording that the players were chanting an offensive and racist song about the black French players. The athlete that was spotted signing the song with his teammates was Enzo.
Many of Chelsea's black players, including some who are French, were offended by the song that Enzo Fernandez had been singing. In addition, while each player expressed his displeasure in a different way, six French players unfollowed the Argentinian, and Romeo Lavia also unfollowed the player.
Many supporters and commentators have recommended that the Blues sell the midfield player, but there is no sign that Chelsea is interested in acquiring him during this transfer window. The player is a vital member of the team, and the manager's plans depend on him.
“I hope things can be resolved smoothly” : Reece James
Couple of days back, Chelsea skipper Reece James also spoke on this issue and he feels that it is justified for some players to feel undone by the chants. He said, “Of course. There’s always the factor where it doesn’t sit right with people when there could be a problem. But until the day comes where everyone’s together and in a room together, I don’t know, but I hope things can be resolved smoothly and we can move forward with the season.”
He added, “I spoke to him a bit, but it was hard because we were on different time zones. Just a general chat really. His views on what happened and him trying to explain his situation and how things happened. It’s a really difficult situation. There’s no room for racism or discrimination in football. I think he quickly put his hand up and acknowledged he’d done wrong and apologised to his teammates, the club and the rest of the people that were offended. I think that was probably the best he could have done in that situation.”
