The 'ball-stand' skill, where a footballer stands on top of the ball during a fixture, may be deemed 'illegal'. Executing such skills may also result in bookings ( Yellow cards) for the footballers in future.

Memphis Depay and Neymar Junior baffled

Dutch forward Memphis recently engaged in showboating during a match between Corinthians and Palmeiras. In response, the Brazilian Football Confederation is intent on addressing such behaviour. The CBF ruled various circumstances in which a player may receive a caution (yellow card) for unsportsmanlike conduct, including a perceived lack of respect for the sport.

The former Manchester United and Barcelona star, Memphis, finds it perplexing that a country renowned for its flair and passion for the beautiful game would seek to curtail displays of individual skills that fans love to see.

“Let’s concentrate on rules that can improve the game and focus on the commercial side of football, which benefits clubs, fans, and players, instead of these ridiculous announcements," Memphis said.

“I actually came to Brazil to witness the 'jogo bonito' first hand, but now the CBF announced that no player can stand on the ball or they will receive a yellow card. It's not that it's a significant factor in football, I see no issue here." Memphis added.

The Prince of Brazilian football, Neymar Junior, joined in the chime and voiced his opinion on the matter. The highest Brazilian goal-scorer of all time asserted that modern football is getting more and more boring.

"Football is getting more and more boring. Too much whining." Neymar said.
