Major League Soccer club Inter Miami's star footballer Lionel Messi once again added one more record to his name in the North American continent after he netted a stunner against Toronto. The 37-year-old star once again carried his team against mid-table opponents.
Lionel Messi hasn't had the best start to the season as his team failed to win the first leg of the quarterfinals against LAFC in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. However, he ensured the team didn't drop all points against Toronto in this MLS fixture.

Lionel Messi scored a stunning goal
Messi almost scored his first in the 39th minute, however, his goal was ruled out upon inspection by VAR. The 37-year-old was, however, not the one to be denied a second chance as he buried a goal with an astonishing shot off a volley.
Messi's goal in the 5th minute of stoppage time in the first half also ensured he became the highest goal contributor for the Herons. Messi required only 29 games to claim this record by making 44 goal contributions, surpassing his Argentine teammate Gonzalo Higuain. Messi's goal came just minutes after Miami gave away the lead when Bernardeschi found the net.
The draw didn't help Miami as it dragged the team down to second place after their 6th matchday. Inter-Miami sits in second place with 14 points, just one shy of Columbus, which leads the Eastern Conference standings. Inter Miami will next take on LAFC in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarter-finals on April 10th. Messi's striker earned him his 855th career goal as he stands second in the list of all-time top goal scorers behind his eternal rival Cristiano Ronaldo.
