Germany's star defender Jonathan Tah has signed with Bayern Munich for the upcoming four years. The signing came as a shock as he previously played for Munich's Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen.
The football transfer news resulted after Bayern Munich had planned to bolster their defence unit ahead of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. However, it's still unclear whether the centre-back will join the Bavarian side in the tournament.

Bayern Munich signs the towering centre-back
Bolstering their defensive lineup has become crucial for Bayern Munich following the departure of English centre-back Eric Dier, who joined AS Monaco on a free transfer. Throughout the season, both Dayot Upamecano and Min-Jae Kim faced injury concerns. In particular, Kim's fitness issues had a direct impact on his performance.
Japanese center-back Hiroki Ito sustained a metatarsal fracture at the beginning of the season and experienced complications related to the injury in the spring. Consequently, Hikori Ito will miss the FIFA Club World Cup.
The defender had already made up his mind to leave Bayern Arena this season with several suitors at his helm. FC Barcelona was one of the forerunners in signing the German but the deal couldn't be materialised due to the club's financial discrepancies.
“It’s no secret that we’ve had Jonathan Tah on our radar for a long time, we appreciate his quality: he’s a character who takes on responsibility. Jonathan had a lot of offers but chose FC Bayern Munich, which pleases us very much.” said Bayern director Max Eberal.
“In Jonathan Tah, we’ve acquired a player with international experience and quality, who won’t need much time to establish himself in our defence,” he added.
