Hungarian attacker Barnabas Varga was taken to the hospital following a collision between numerous players during the game on Sunday, June 23. The incident shocked football fans, and now they have seen him in a picture for the very first time since.

Varga's team was playing the Tartan Army in the UEFA Euro 2024 group stage in an attempt to advance to the round of 16. Although Kevin Csoboth's spectacular goal in the tenth minute of stoppage time gave the Hungarians the victory, the atmosphere was anything but joyous.

The game was paused for seven minutes in the 69th minute of action due to a horrifying collision between Scotland keeper Angus Gunn and Barnabas Varga. Varga lay still on the ground after the blow, and his teammates surrounded him like a wall to keep him safe while medical assistance was given.

It has subsequently been verified that he had "several" fractured bones in his face in addition to a concussion when he was subsequently stretchered off the field and taken to the hospital. The Hungarian Football Association provided an update, stating that the player from Ferencvaros was supported by the "whole team" and will probably need surgery for his wounds.

The statement read, "Led by Marco Rossi, some members of the professional staff and Endre Botka, representing the players, visited Barnabás Varga in Klinikum Stuttgart. The visitors interpreted the wishes of the whole team for the player."

Dominik Sbzoloslai speaks about the injury to Barnabas Varga

Since then, Hungary's skipper Dominik Szoboszlai has discussed the issue and seemed to blame the Euros personnel for their slow response time. He was questioned if the stadium's medical personnel had responded quickly enough.

The Liverpool midfielder said after the game that, "I was one of the first people there, I was shocked myself, I tried to put him on his side, which is actually the best thing you can do in situations like this." he continued to say. I have no idea what the protocol is, whether people are not allowed to run onto the pitch if we need help. We have to do it faster, much faster. Everyone knows that seconds add up."
