Ronald Araújo turns off Instagram comments

Barcelona's captain and defender, Ronald Araújo, has been facing social media outrage since his defensive mistakes led to Inter Milan scoring two goals in the final moments of the match.

Araujo has faced lots of criticism from a portion of the FC Barcelona fanbase. He has been subjected to online abuse for the past two days. In response, he has disabled comments on his Instagram account to shield himself from the attack.

Much of the abuse can be linked to his haphazard defending after he was brought in after the 76th minute. He failed to mark Acerbi while he equalised in the 90+3rd minute. In the extra time, Araujo failed once again to stop David Frattesi's strike, which ultimately proved to be the winner.

Araújo was touted to leave the club in January, but eventually made up his mind to prolong his stay at the club till 2031. However, his release clause, worth €65 million, will remain open for the first 10 days of the transfer window. He had been linked with Bayern Munich and Manchester United earlier. The defender is anticipated to be once again introduced as a substitute in the upcoming El-Classico on May 11.
