WATCH: Yann Sommer's heroic save against Lamine Yamal in UCL semifinals

Inter Milan became the club that finally curtailed the unstoppable force in European football this season- FC Barcelona. Inter Milan pulled off an astonishing win in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals against FC Barcelona at San Siro.

Both the teams headed into the contest with a 3-3 aggregate scoreline. In a match that saw both the teams making a comeback, Inter Milan held against the mighty Barcelona 4-3 in extra-time.

Yann Sommer's heroics saved Inter Milan 

The player who can be credited the most for Inter's victory is their goalkeeper Yann Sommer. The Swiss goalkeeper saved 14 shots in both legs against Barcelona. The tally ranks as the second-highest saves made by a keeper in the last 15 editions of the UCL semifinals. He was also awarded the player of the match award for his heroics in the fixture. Barcelona dominated most of the game with 72% possession and 10 shots on target. Sommer pulled off seven sensational saves for his side.

“That last stop on Lamine was a really special one. He’s an extremely talented player, always trying to cut inside and shoot. I’m just glad that shot didn’t go in,” said Sommer,

Earlier, Inter Milan struck twice via Lautaro Martinez and Calhanoglu in quick counters to stage a 2-0 lead in the first half. In the second half, FC Barcelona did what they did for most of the season. They made a gargantuan comeback with goals from Eric Garcia, Dani Olmo and Raphinha. However, Acerbi's bullet header off a corner kick in the stoppage time ensured the game moved into extra time. Frattesi scored a brilliant goal in the 101st minute, and Inter Milan was able to hold for their lives in the remainder of the 20 minutes.

This crushed Barcelona's chances of winning a treble this season. However, they can still complete the domestic treble by winning the Laliga. Barcelona currently sits at the top of the Laliga standings followed by Real Madrid. Inter Milan will head to Allianz Arena to take on either PSG or Arsenal in the UCL finals.
