Arsenal and Newcastle United are set to battle it out in their pursuit to secure the signature of Bayern Munich’s winger Leroy Sane.

The Gunners have had an impactful summer transfer window, having already spent approximately £70m on five new signings. They have secured the permanent acquisition of David Raya and have brought in Riccardo Calafiori, Mikel Merino, Tomy Setford and Raheem Sterling.

The club has seen several departures, with Mohamed Elneny and Cedric Soares leaving following the end of their contracts.

Newcastle's summer has been relatively calm, but they've made some important signings, including Lewis Hall from Chelsea and William Osula from Sheffield United.

Both clubs have had a strong start to their domestic campaigns and are now reportedly competing for Leroy Sane's signature, as per a report via GiveMeSport.

The Case of Leroy Sane

Sane's current contract runs until June 2025, and negotiations are underway for a contract extension. However, there seems to be a deadlock in talks between the club and the player regarding his wages. The 28-year-old is seeking a higher wage, while the club is reluctant to agree to an increase.

Leroy Sane is a formidable and dynamic attacker known for his agility, exceptional ball control, and blistering pace on the wing, posing a threat to any opponent's defence.

In his club career, Sane has amassed over 367 appearances and netted 100 goals. For his national team, he has represented his country 65 times, scoring 13 goals.

Arsenal is keeping an eye on the situation as they seek to bolster their attacking lineup. The potential addition of Sane could significantly enhance their attacking prowess.

Reports suggest that one potential hurdle for the transfer could be Sane's substantial current wage of £325,000 per week. Both clubs would need to invest a considerable sum to secure his signature.

Though signing Sane may present challenges, the outcome ultimately hinges on Bayern's ongoing contract negotiations behind the scenes.
