Yoshida decides to leave the baton of Sony PlayStation after thirty-one years of service on January 15th, 2025. His efforts have helped the Sony PlayStation grow as a brand and become one of the most popular video gaming consoles which has concurred most of the world markets.
Yoshida announced his retirement in an interview which was published on PlayStation’s official blog. He remembered his glorious years in Sony, and cited that Journey winning the Game of the Year award was one of his most cherished memories.
It was one of his achievements as Journey was just a digital game with a small base. He also appreciated the efforts of indie development to bring in innovative and new ideas to the Sony gaming ecosystem. Journey was one such product which competed with AAA games and was still crowned with glory. Another one such game which had been a best seller was Balatro.
