Microsoft Xbox's Avatar features are set to be removed from January 2025. The users who have subscribed to the features from the 23rd of November 2023 are likely to get a refund. The feature is popular in some of the games like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD, Kinect Sports, and Sonic Free Riders.
The Avatar feature was introduced for the first time in 2008 under the update 'New Play'. Since then, it has been consistently used in Xbox 360. There was an update in 2017 from the part of Microsoft where they gave additional features like customization, physics, body types, different clothing, and even props. The current-day Xbox Avatar was launched a year later in 2018.
Those who have access to the Xbox 360 can use the old features. However, the modern Xbox Avatar features will be removed by January 2025. However, the users who made a purchase in November 2023, are likely to be provided a refund. The newer version of the Avatar will not be available for the users.
The original Avatar still up for usage
Microsoft revealed the reason behind not continuing the app. According to its statement, there was a lack of engagement with the program which has led to its discontinuation. It has meant the focus of Xbox to be towards other experiences. It would not mean a total end of the Xbox Avatars.
The Xbox 360-era systems will still be available for the users. In the Xbox library, not many systems support the use of the Avatar features. Some of the Xbox Original Avatar is in use in games like 'Doritos Crash Course' and 'A Kingdom of Keflings'.
The Xbox Series X has Microsoft's 9th generation console with a powerful machine that can support 60 fps and 4k resolution. Windows is used as the Operating System and there is a storage capacity of 1TB WD SN530 NVMe SSD. It was released on the 10th of November 2020 and there are ports like AC, Ethernet, USB x3, Storage Expansion, and HDMI.
