Online scam on 'The Witcher 4' beta access

But a recent online scam claiming to give access to beta testing shocked the developer CD Projekt Red. They have now issued a warning on the ongoing scam regarding The Witcher 4 series, and they have not stopped with that. They have already taken necessary action to prevent this scam from happening to their fans. They did not reveal what the steps are, but they are dealing with this issue accordingly.

The RPG was confirmed in March 2022, and the game is still in development. Many predict the game will release in 2026 or early 2027, which will be the perfect time, as the developer feels it needs more time to make the game perfect for the next-gen consoles. But before that, a new online scam emerged out of nowhere claiming to give beta testing and access to top fans. This is done to harvest user data and sell it on the black market.

People accidentally give their contact information, and they could be scammed by some other malicious apps or calls. They could also make people download certain files, which could have malware that can access your personal bank account or identity details. So the developer has taken action against the fraudsters before someone gets caught in their trap.

CDPR has no history of allowing fans to participate in its beta tests. The only occasion they did was during the 2016 and 2017 seasons, when they asked fans to test Dwent: The Witcher card game. The latest edition, The Witcher 4, is unlikely to have any beta testing programs. It will be a next-gen game that doesn't suit the current generation consoles. So we won't see fans playing Witcher 4 with the current generation PlayStation or Xbox consoles.
