Last year, CD Projekt Red game fans first looked at The Witcher 4 with Ciri as the lead. The team also revealed that the game is now in full production, and the latest earnings report reveals there have been more additions, not only to Witcher 4 but also the other projects like Orion (new Cyberpunk game), Sirius (new Witcher game), and Hadar (new IP).

The reports showcased an increase in the overall number of developers spread across various titles from October 31st, 2024, to February 28, 2025. This aligns with the recent job openings by CDPR over the last two months to work on different games. Over 50 new additions were made to Project Orion, the new entry in the Cyberpunk franchise, seeing a significant number of new devs.

CDPR Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk

Cyberpunk sequel getting more attention

As seen above, Project Orion saw 20 more additions, that’s almost half of the new people joining CDPR. The game is currently in the concept stage, meaning the devs are mapping out the story and the setting for the game and more people mean things are moving fast.

The earnings report revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 sold over 30 million copies as of November 2024, while its expansion ‘Phantom Liberty’ sold over 8 million copies. This was despite a bizarre launch for the game, which was fixed over the years, leading to the expansion release. Phantom Liberty is also considered one of the best game expansions.

Here’s the current status for all projects at CDPR

The Witcher 4 - Production
Sirius (new Witcher game) - Pre-Production
The Witcher Remake - Concept
Cyberpunk - Concept
Hadar ((new IP) - IP Concept

Witcher 4 and new Cyberpunk will not come out anytime soon

CDPR is known to make ambitious projects, and The Witcher 4, along with the new Cyberpunk game, are also the same. Despite entering full production, the game is far from complete and has an expected release window of sometime in 2027. That’s two years of waiting, considering there’s no delay.

If fans have to wait that long for The Witcher 4, the Cyberpunk sequel should be nowhere close, as the game is still in the concept phase, after which it will land in pre-production with devs testing the design and other mechanics. It’ll be a while before fans can try a new CDPR game.
