After an incredible performance throughout the entire tournament and only one loss to his name, João "jafonso" Vasconcelos have finally secured the first ever FC24 Esports World Cup. Fans got to witness another impeccable performance from the Portuguese behemoth, who took home $300,000 as the Grand Prize.

His final opponent was Gabriel "Young" Freitas, another talented individual who also made waves prior to reaching the Grand Final. His playoff journey saw him take down Vejrgang and AbuMakkah, but he remained a little short on fan expectation in front of Jafonso.

Since the early match, Jafonso decided to take control on his own hands to keep the pressure on his opponent. He was quite successful as the first goal came with three minutes, followed by another within 10 minutes, which was more than enough to tell how serious he was regarding the match.

Young respond soon enough, initiating a chase and to cover the lead early on, however, it was to no avail as the gap between both players went on to become bigger and bigger with Jafonso ending the first half with four goals in the bag.

A complete shutdown by Jafonso

This continued in the second half, where Young was still struggling to put a second on the board, let along overtake the massive lead Jafonso created. The second goal did eventually come, but that was the last time Young got a chance to score as his opponent upped the defence.

The match ended with an anticlimactic 6-2 scoreline, but at the same time also tells us how hard Jafonso worked to secure the first ever FC24 Esports World Cup title. Despite not matching up to the champion, Young also had incredible moments which led him into the Grand Finals and the players will be going home with $150,000 in the bag.
