'Valorant Clone' - Fans react to tactical FPS game by former CS pro Shroud

A new tactical FPS game by Shroud and Mountaintop Studios is set to be revealed soon, but fans are concerned that it will be a Valorant or Counter-Strike clone.

In this day and age of esports and multiplayer gaming, former CS pro-Shroud are now teased his new tactical FPS game made alongside Mountaintop Studios. The studio has released a short teaser, while the full reveal is set to be done on August 1.

Shroud said, “Been working on this game for a long time, excited to show you guys”. An announcement about Shroud making a game was made back in 2023, however, it was for another game code named Project Astrid alongside Splash Damage which will be a survival game and is currently in the making.

Early looks suggest that the game is in fact very similar to Counter-Strike and Valorant, which is understandable as Shroud comes from the same background and with the knowledge to add more to the game. The cel-shaded art style is new to the mix and received praise from many.

Fans react to Shroud’s FPS game

Many have called the game a Valorant or Counter Strike clone, or something that resembles them closely, which is fair as the game is a tactical FPS shooter that resembles both of these games very closely. Here’s what fans had to say -

Gameplay Wise, players will need to wait a few more days to get the feel of what’s to come. With the full revealed, players can get an idea of what the game is all about. There are also plans for a major Playtest after the reveal that will likely tell us more about the gameplay loop and who knows it might be something new.
