For those still in ‘Shadows’, the game was delayed to February 2025 from its initial release of November 2024. This was done in order to provide more time for developers to polish the game after an underwhelming release of Star Wars Outlaws and the dire state of Ubisoft stock price.

In the latest blog post, the combat overview for Assassin's Creed Shadows revealed how the offensive and defensive is going to work in the game. There are also skills and abilities that players can acquire through the game.

Assassin's Creed Shadows combat and weapons revealed

For offensive abilities, both Naoe and Yasuke can use light attacks, heavy attacks and posture attacks. Light is great for quickly doing chip damage, while a charge attack can stagger enemies. Posture attacks are used to break guard and can be done with either light or heavy attacks.

As for defense, Naoe and Yasuke can either dodge an incoming attack which will simply remove them from harm’s way, or they can parry, which can be risky but will allow them an attack window. Block is another defensive ability unique to Yasuke due to his build.

Weapons are unique to each protagonist, which is done in order to give players a different experience in the game. Besides, who would want to use the same weapons all over, Naoe uses light weapons that can be effective for quick attacks while Yasuke uses bulky weapons that are slow but can hit hard.
