Another win for Team Liquid, which has now secured a spot for them in the Group Stage at IEM Cologne 2024. Alongside Liquid, SAW and Complexity are also joining the ranks after securing Upper Bracket Round 2 while MIBR and 9z Team will be fighting out the final spot from the upper bracket.
While their match against Furia wasn’t exactly easy, both teams provided some great moments for Counter-Strike fans. The first game was secured by Furia who displayed a dominating T side with Yuurih securing multiple clutches for his team.
The second half was then an easy affair for the team as they stopped Team Liquid from progressing further than eight rounds to close game 1. This all occurred on Liquid’s map choice, so the team had to make up moving forward.
Lucky for Liquid, the team did make a comeback in the following match thanks to Ultimate, who made some crucial clutches to bring back the team to an advantage. The second half saw Furia catch up, but Liquid denied them an overtime. The third game once again started with Liquid dominating and the IGL ‘Twistzz’ stepping up and securing the match and a spot in the Group Stage.

Complexity survives Turkish mastermind MAJ3R
The other side saw Complexity face Eternal Fire, and while the opening match was pretty straightforward, the second game saw Eternal Fire push Complexity to the edge. Neither of the teams was ready to budge and while Complexity secured a huge lead, their opponents brought back-to-back wins to drag overtime.
Complexity gained another lead, but Eternal Fire was not ready to give up, leading their opponents to force another overtime where Complexity managed to come out on top. It was quite clear how important the match as for both teams. Eternal Fire, however, will have to face another challenge against The Mongolz in the lower bracket.
