IEM Cologne sees Team Liquid bring heat from BLAST Premier Fall Groups

Play-In for IEM Cologne 2024 commences with teams fighting for a spot in the group stages and so far Team Liquid have managed to keep up the performance. The team is currently aiming for at least a spot in the Playoffs.

Liquid recently took down NaVi at the BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024 and not only once but two times including the group stage grand finals and made their way to the Fall Final. Sadly, prior to this, the team was a bit shaky with an old roster and only managed to qualify for the Play-In at IEM Cologne 2024.

The swap seemingly has had a positive impact on their performance as the team have now once again swept their opponents. Liquid matched with paiN Gaming and while the opening game did see paiN defend their map, the opponents managed to triumph during the overtime.

With this, the team was already left at a disadvantage and the following map was an easy time for Liquid. The team dominated the first half and while paiN did try to contest, the lead was too big to break. While the entire Team Liquid was looking in form, jks and Ultimate dropped over 40 kills across both matches.

Play-In to see eight teams in Group Stage

Team Liquid have now moved to the Upper Bracket Round 2 and will be facing FURIA Esports. In they manage to secure this game, the team secure a spot in the Group Stage. However, the IGL, Twistzz, does not seem satisfied with just Group Stage. In an interview with HLTV, he said that the team, need to constantly make it into the Playoffs if they plan to get better.

Alongside Liquid, six more teams have made it to the Upper Bracket Round 2 and are also fighting for a spot in the Group Stage. Losers will be moving to the lower bracket for one last chance. Here are all the upcoming matchups.
