Everyone wants to get their hands on GTA 6 as soon as possible, and with AI this could be possible. Not only GTA 6 but many believe that AI can accelerate the creation of new video games, but the CEO of Take-Two, the parent company for Rockstar Games, Strauss Zelnick, believes this won’t be the case in reality.
When asked about this in a recent interview with CNBC, Zelnick said that it would have been great if AI could be used this way. Making things cheaper, quicker, better, or easier is a dream for all companies, but he argued that this isn’t the case in reality.
“All of our tools do help us become more efficient. That said, it’s going to become commoditized. Everyone is going to have access to the same tools. That is the history of toolsets. What it means, though, is our creative people will be able to do fewer mundane tasks and turn their attention to the really creative tasks,” he said.

Why won’t AI accelerate game development?
What Zelnick likely meant is that AI will help the developers to complete smaller tasks that are required to get big things going. This will allow them to focus on important aspects that players will actually notice and care about. The more time developers spend on that work, the better fans will get the end results.
Zelnick also revealed that AI has already existed in video games and other industries long before it was this popularized. GTA 6 will likely present a great example of how good a game can be if companies simply let the developers cook.
On the contrary, top execs of a few other companies like EA that AI can really speed up game development and even announced the interaction of AI workflow in their games. At the moment, it is unclear which part they were talking about.
