Sony is in talks with Japanese publisher Kadokawa, the parent company of Fromsoftware which created some of the masterpieces like Elden Ring, Bloodborne and Dark Souls series as per a recent report published by Reuters. The reports further revealed that the deal might be finalized in the next few weeks if successful.

This revelation was done by two sources who spoke to Reuters on the matter but at the moment, both Sony and Kadokawa have declined any comment regarding the situation. Sony already had a stake in Kadokawa and Fromsoftware, however, if the deal closes, all of these IPs will be under the company.

FromSoftware won’t be the only studio Sony will be getting their hands on as the development studios behind Octopath Traveller, Acquire, and others might also join PlayStation. Although, at the moment, it is unclear if the deal will go through and for how much.

Sony’s biggest deal yet was the Bungie acquisition for $3.7 billion and going by the reputation of Kadokawa and the studios under them, it may go well over that.

New Software games to become PlayStation exclusive?

If the deal goes through, PlayStation may likely get more exclusives considering PS5 Pro launched with none which people did not appreciate. These exclusives can come from Elden Ring developers, meaning there is a chance that PC gamers will have to wait over a year to play a new Souls-like, while Xbox may have to wait indefinitely.

Of course, Sony has released games both on PC and PS5 at the same time, but fans are still worried. The PSN requirement Sony has been standing upon has led to a ban on their games in over 100 countries, and PC isn’t their main focus.
