Silent Hill F reveal recently attracted a lot of attention among fans of the franchise. The age-restricted trailer for the game showcased a grim story set in 1960s Japan and will be a fresh start in the horror franchise. However, what got people talking more about the game was the several content warnings the developers gave everyone.
“This game contains depictions of gender discrimination, child abuse, bullying, drug-induced hallucinations, torture, and graphic violence. This game is set in Japan in the 1960s and contains depictions based on the customs and culture of that time,” the warning read.
However, they did make it clear that the studio does not support any of these things and players should stop playing if they feel uncomfortable playing the game. “These depictions do not reflect the opinions or values of the developers or any individuals involved. If you feel uncomfortable at any point while playing, please take a break from playing or speak to someone you trust,” the statement further added.

It seems the game isn’t shying away from diving into some heavy topics. The Silent Hill 2 remake also had Angela Orosco, who was also a victim of abuse. This time, however, the story and setting seem to be much more grim compared to past Silent Hill games.
The scriptwriter for the game ‘Ryukishi07’ mentioned that the game will be a bit different and while there aren’t many details outside the official warning, people have also dug out what the warning may be referring to in the game’s ESRB rating.
Silent Hill has received an M rating with the description reading, “Enemy attacks can result in players' characters getting impaled in the neck and/or getting their faces ripped apart." Cutscenes are also similarly intense, with the description further talking about being burnt alive inside a cage, a woman branded by a hot iron, slicing off portions of a character's face, and more.
