With the recent success of Valorant in India, Riot Games have now announced that will also be shifting their focus to bring League of Legends to the same heights. League is currently one of the biggest MOBA titles, however, it has yet to integrate itself into the Indian esports community.

“We’re excited to be bringing League of Legends to the forefront in India. This isn’t just a game; it’s a global phenomenon that’s all about passion, competition, and having a blast. We’ve seen first-hand how much India loves gaming, and we’re here to take that love to the next level,” said Arun Rajappa, Country Manager for Riot Games.

To do that, Riot Games has announced multiple local events for League of Legends alongside The Esports Club, with the events running till December. There are also many collaborations with content creators planned in the Streamer Clash.

More focus on India and South Asia

This move, however, isn’t limited to India but the entire South Asian region, which has been a core part of expansion for Riot Games. With Valorant, India saw some huge collaborations, events and even their own slot at Valorant Champions Tour. With League of Legends, Riot Games might be looking towards a similar approach.

The first season of The Esports Club’s LoL community cup is currently on, with more to follow in the following months. These are open-to-all LoL events where players can make a name for themselves while also popularizing the game across the country.

Other companies like Krafton and Garena have also sensed a potential and are also pushing to promote their games, with Riot Following suit. However, Popularizing a whole different genre of esports title can be quite challenging, especially in a country where players usually prefer FPS and Battle Royale games.
