In a recent Champion Insight, Riot Games has now given us a closer look at the newest League of Legends champion, Aurora. While Riot has always had some unique designs for its champions, Aurora represents much more than a ginger bunny witch.

She is the first League of Legends champion that has Autism. This comes as another step for Riot Games to further expand towards diversity in their games. Many of the devs at Riot also contribute their experience to the new champion.

“It’s impossible to fully encapsulate the autistic experience because it’s a spectrum because everyone experiences it so differently. And we wanted to kind of capture not just the common autism experiences a lot of us have had, but the most basic part of having autism,” Aurora added talking about Aurora’s design.

Who is Aurora?- Roles and Abilities

Aurora is the latest champion in League of Legends that is set to be added with Patch 14.14 released on July 17. She will be a Skirmisher and features a kit that focuses on stealth and great damage while also supporting herself. Here’s a quick rundown of her abilities.

Passive - Spirit Abjuration

After hitting an enemy multiple times, Aurora can gain spirit for a short duration that will increase her movement speed and which will heal her simultaneously. She can hold multiple spirits that will increase the buff benefit for each spirit.

Twofold Hex (Q)

Aurora fires a projectile that can hit multiple enemies and curse them. Recasting the same will return the curse back along with a spirit and will also damage the enemy previously cursed.

Across the Veil (W)

As mentioned in the champion insight, Aurora can traverse the spirit realm and using this ability will make her jump and enter the same, making her invisible to enemies for a short duration.

The Weirding (E)

Opening a portal to the spirit realm, Aurora blasts enemies with magic in a straight line that damages and slows them down. As an added defence, Aurora also hops back for her location a little.

Between Worlds (R)

This is her ultimate ability, where she jumps in the air and hits the enemy with a shockwave that deals damage and slows them. Along with that, she also creates an area of effect trapping the enemy. While in her area, Aurora can teleport from one end to another.
