Over the past few years, we have had multiple remakes of some of the best Resident Evil games, like Resident Evil 7, 2 and 4. The last known Resident Evil game was the fourth part, which was a massive hit, and fans loved playing the game. Though Capcom hasn't confirmed anything about the upcoming game, fans are thrilled to hear the news about Resident Evil 9. The rumours say RE9 will be a big open-world game with Leon Kennedy returning along with Jill Valentine.

Resident Evil 9 is under development

The new game will be based on a fictional island resembling Singapore, and it will be a heavy reboot for the franchise and its legacy in the gaming world. It will be designed as a third-person game, as per Dusk Golem's claims. There are also speculations regarding the upcoming sequel for the 2015 released Resident Evil: Revelations 2. But it was cancelled due to budget and manpower concerns. Instead of that, Resident Evil 4 remake and Resident Evil 9 are prioritised by Capcom.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is a sequel to the 2012 spin-off that was released on Nintendo 3DS. Over 3.7 million units were sold, but it is still one of the lowest Resident Evil games in terms of sales numbers. But anything about the game will be revealed in just a few days' time. We are expecting more news and details regarding the upcoming Resident Evil sequel at the Summer Game Fest, which will be held on June 6, 2025. With all the remakes, Capcom is also working on Resident Evil Zero.
