Fans of Resident Evil believe that Capcom may have recently hinted at Resident Evil 9 in the most bizarre way conceivable by ostensibly mentioning it in a video celebrating the sales of Resident Evil 4 Remake. Since the release of the Resident Evil 4 remake in 2023, Capcom has not formally acknowledged that any new Resident Evil games are in production; yet, one of the worst-kept secrets in the industry is that Resident Evil 9 is presently under development.
In recent years, there have been several leaks and rumors regarding the new game, which is said to feature open-world. We still haven't heard anything official from Capcom on the future of the franchise or even when a new game is expected to be released, despite the current proliferation of purported information regarding Resident Evil 9.
A video released by Capcom earlier today verified a significant sales milestone for the Resident Evil 4 remake, which has now formally sold over 10 million units since its release. Though many have pointed out that it appears to conclude with a massive tease, the celebratory video is primarily humorous and a wonderful look back at the remake.
Capcom mentions Resident Evil 9 for first time
Leon is seen hanging about in the town from the first chapter at the end of the Resident Evil 4 remake trailer, as noted by Resident Evil insider and Twitter user Aesthetic Gamer1. The camera moves back to see a crossing sign that wasn't included in the original game, as he raises his hand in celebration. Although the sign thanks fans for playing in several languages makes the design more interesting.
Examining the symbol attentively reveals that it is fashioned like the Roman number for nine, "IX." Since the cross was altered for the video and Resident Evil 9 is the next game in the series, fans are interpreting it as an overt hint at the game's existence. This is the first time Capcom has made any mention of Resident Evil 9.
