The announcement of PS5 Pro already made a lot of noise and while the upgrade looks quite compelling, the $700 price has been the talk of the town. Many of the top industry experts calling the price too steep for a console, but they are not the one who decides if the price is acceptable, as the ultimate decision comes down to the buyer.

A huge factor that can affect the decision is lack of games, which was also a common complaint people were having with the reveal. However, with the disk drive for PS5 Pro going off stock across multiple stores, it is also clear that many are waiting for its release and the only game that can justify this wait is GTA 6, but Digital Foundry may have some bad news for fans.

In a recent chat between IGN and Digital Foundry, tech editor Richard Leadbetter said that even PS5 Pro may have a hard time keeping GTA 6 on 60 FPS on 4K resolution. The reasoning behind this was quite simple, GTA 6 will be an open world game and open world games are CPU intensive.

PS5 Pro is featuring a better GPU along with faster memory, but sadly, it is using the same CPU as PS5. Considering all the rumours about the world Rockstar Games is creating with the game, it is hard to ignore how much CPU intensive the game might be.

When it comes to visuals, the better GPU will come in handy, however, there is no telling for the CPU. “Grand Theft Auto games have always run complex simulations that push the CPU hard, which is why every GTA game has initially launched on their target platforms at 30fps,” Leadbetter said.

Is getting PS5 Pro a waste?

Not really, If a person wants to but a PS5 Pro, they most certainly can and there is no guarantee that the game will run at lower FPS like the older GTA titles. All of this is just an educated guess with the information available on hand. There is also PlayStation’s Spectral Super Resolution, and everything will come down to how the game has been optimized for the PS5.
