Video game fans are in for a big worry following rumours circulating online that Grand Theft Auto (GTA) VI will be delayed by a year. The sixth edition of GTA, one of the greatest online games of all time, is expected to be released in autumn 2025. However, rumours suggest that the release date may be pushed to 2026.
There were earlier reports that Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two told their investors that the game is on track for release in 2025. However, a new report suggests that the launch date could slip to 2026 as GTA 6 is a huge and ambitious project.

Meanwhile, on Monday (September 9), Bloomberg's Jason Schreier provided details on the potential delay of the highly anticipated game. The American journalist said six different Rockstar employees told him they had heard nothing about the delay. However, he did not completely rule out the possibility of a delay.
“The internet (and my DMs) blew up this weekend over a rumour that GTA VI is delayed. Good news is that six Rockstar employees all told me they have not heard of any delay. Bad news: it's a big, ambitious game and could very well slip! Too much time left to say anything definitive,” Schreier wrote on X.
New GTA 6 trailer to drop in October
If the new episode GTA is delayed until 2026, its PC version will be released in 2027. Fans are hoping that Rockstar Games will provide a clear release date and pre-order information when trailer 2 drops. The new trailer is expected to release on October 4.
GTA 6 will need to be bug-tested to the gills and will require more patches. "Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet,” Rockstar said.
