R6 Siege Operation Collision Point brings cross-play (Image - Ubisoft)
Rainbow Six Siege is finally doing a complete cross-play between consoles and PC. Operation Collision Point for Year 9 Season 4 update is set to release in December and will let a player team up with friends across any platform, although if there is a PC player on a team, they will be matched against other PC players.
Prior to this, crossplay in Rainbow Six Siege was available but only among select devices. Console players had crossplay in the form of Xbox and PlayStation matchmaking, while PC had crossplay with Amazon Luna and Stadia (RIP).
Despite the addition of crossplay, progression across rank and reputation will be separate for consoles and PC, including the ranked leaderboard. This will help players maintain a separate rank while playing against different platforms.

🎮 Console players, get ready to squad up with your PC pals.
Starting in Y9S4, you'll be able to choose to matchmake into PC lobbies as a console player.

Improved cheat detection
For the longest time, using a mouse and keyboard has had a slight advantage for siege players and to get that, some console players use an external device like XIM. In order to improve this, the anti-cheat detection is also being updated, and the Mousetrap Penalty adding latency will also be balanced with the addition of crossplay.
“Player Protection advances this season include Mousetrap Penalty adjustments to account for crossplay, automatic match cancellation if a cheater is detected, an overhaul for the Reputation center, and AI text moderation,” the post wrote.
Apart from that, players will get a new season and a complete rework of Blackbeard. Instead of the shield on the weapon, he is now getting an adaptable ballistic shield, which can also be used to breach destructible walls using the shield's limited charges.
With one more operator getting a full shield, Ballistic Shields also saw some changes. The shield bash will not do zero damage to opponents to balance out too many shields that can provide cover and take the sown enemies without many issues.
