Pocketpair, the studio behind Palworld, has launched a publishing division aptly named ‘Pocketpair Publishing’. The studio wasn’t joking around when they said they wanted to inspire others to make fun video games. The initiative allows indie studios and developers to have full creative freedom and make what they want.

“Our goal is to provide comprehensive support for game development through funding and publishing for indie developers and studios,” the official post wrote. “We don’t want to change your dream or push you to make a certain type of game. We want to give you money, and we want to help you make a fun game,” the official blog post added.

To get funded, developers simply have to pitch their ideas and their goals with the game. While there are no restrictions, the publisher will likely select ideas that sound fun and may have the potential to match their game. Palworld was a massive success reaching 15 million in sales in the first month.

Pocketpair Publishing has game developers lined up

Within a day after the announcement, the Publishing Manager at Pocketpair, John ‘Bucky’ Buckley, revealed that the response was quite amazing with thousands of people showing interest in the initiative. Bucky also received multiple pitches for game ideas.

This was likely due to the nature of the publisher. Getting your dream game funded in the current situation of the gaming industry can be exhaustive. Even after securing a publisher, the developers are often told to make changes to the original game quite often.

“As a completely independent publisher, we are uniquely positioned to help developers create the games they want, free from the complications of dealing with third parties who may not have their best interests at heart. We remain dedicated to making fun games, and we’re so excited to now be able to help others bring their own fun games to life,” Pocketpair wrote.
