A popular game mod that enabled 60 fps in Bloodborne was recently hit with DMCA by PlayStation. In the legal takedown notice, the creator of the mod, ‘Lance McDonald’ was asked to take down links of the mod by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The reason behind this move by Sony remains unclear but quite interesting for gamers.

“On February 21st, 2021, I created and released a patch for Bloodborne which makes the game run at 60fps. Today I received a DMCA takedown notification on behalf of Sony Interactive Entertainment asking that I remove links to the patch I posted on the internet, so I've now done so,” McDonald wrote.

DMCA takedowns for mods are quite common and often companies are criticized for these decisions. Most recently, Rockstar Games took down the Liberty City preservation mod. As for the Bloodborne 60fps mod, fans called the decision strange as it was originally released back in 2021.
