Electronic Arts revealed their next entry in the Battlefield franchise alongside Battlefield Labs a month back. Following registration across Europe and North America, the first playtest was held, and as one would expect, there is a lot of gameplay footage leaked online showcasing gunplay and environmental destruction similar to the trailer.
It was reported that the alpha playtest is under NDA. EA was reportedly taking down the leaked clips, however, reports say they have given up. Battlefield Labs was launched as an initiative to keep the community updated and get feedback on every step in order to avoid a launch similar to Battlefield 2042.
Battlefield fans impressed with alpha playtest
Despite being very early gameplay, fans already seem to be impressed. Multiple clips showcased that the game is trying to capture the best things from previous games. The gameplay isn’t perfect which is to be expected, however, it does reassure the players that their voices are being heard.
At the moment, it is unclear if EA will let the clips from future testing also be untouched. Following the initial leaks, the company issued DMCA takedowns on several videos, but later gave up. This, hopefully, was the result of the positive feedback from the community regarding the game’s direction.

EA to expand Battlefield playtest in future
As of now, players from the EU and NA regions are the only regions that can sign up for early playtests. EA did say they plan on expanding this. Currently, there is no information on when more regions will be included. The game is expected to launch before April 2026 so maybe when the team moves into the next phase of testing, more slots will be available.
