Electronic Arts (EA) finally revealed the next entry for the Battlefield franchise. While fans did get a look at what the developers were cooking through the pre-alpha footage, the introduction was originally for Battlefield Labs, their new community testing environment for players.

Through Battlefield Labs, EA plans to get the community involved for as much feedback as possible for the upcoming game, something Battlefield 2042 lacked a lot. “This new testing environment is where our players will join forces with BF Studios and help shape the evolution of Battlefield. You’ll test combat mechanics, modes, and more while providing us crucial feedback in the ultimate collaboration,” EA said.
New Battlefield game features the biggest development team
With extensive community testing, listening to player feedback, and the decision to bring back old game modes, EA is ticking all the right boxes. EA has also deployed the largest team to work on a Battlefield game.
As revealed by EA, the game is currently being developed by four different studios. These are DICE, which is working on multiplayer, Motive Studio, which is working on a single-player campaign; Criterion Games, which is helping out across both aspects; and finally, Ripple Effect, which is taking the lead on Battle Royale mode.
To sign up for the ‘Battlefield Labs,’ players need to join the official Discord and check the availability and requirements. At the moment, sign-ups for only North America and Europe are open, with more regions planned in the coming months. Regardless of participation, EA plans to communicate every step moving forward.
What is the release date for the new Battlefield game?
The upcoming Battlefield game is currently in pre-alpha, meaning there’s a decent amount of time before fans can see a Steam store page for wishlist and pre-orders. Following extensive testing, the game will enter alpha, then beta testing where pre-orders will presumably open, and then the player will see a final release.
