After over five long years of service, one of the best entries in the Forza franchise, Forza Horizon 4 is set to be permanently delisted from across digital stores on December 15, 2024, and will not be available for purchase. Developed by Playground Games, it is one of the most popular entries in the Forza series for Xbox.

The reason behind this move is the expiring licences and other partnerships, which is quite common across video game which uses things like licensed music and vehicles. Following the announcement, all the DLCs for the game were delisted first, with the different editions going on huge discounts to give players one last chance to grab a copy.

While many argue that the delisting was avoidable considering Microsoft is the largest company across the globe and licence fee should not be much of an issue, players are at least getting both online and offline access to the game.

What goes and what remains in Forza Horizon 4?

After the game is delisted, players will see the final festival playlist for series 77 which will conclude on August 22. This means that players have one last chance to grab some achievements from the festival playlist. Apart from that, the game will run as usual, as players who own the game will still have all the online and offline functionality.

Players can run daily and weekly challenges to Backstage Passes to unlock cars. Furthermore, one can still experience all the seasons and complete every achievement related to it. The only thing going away is the ability to purchase the game after December 2024 with the game retaining all the functionality.

“Remember to make the most of the remaining time of the Festival Playlist and that when the game is delisted, you’ll still be able to play it as you always have,” the official blog wrote.

Fully paid Game Pass users at the time of delisting who have purchased DLCs for the game will also get a free game token that will be delivered through Xbox Message Center. Fully paid here means the player had a not-discounted Game Pass subscription.
