It’s official, the new Call of Duty: Black Ops title is coming to Xbox Game Pass on release day, confirming all the rumours. This will allow Game Pass subscribers to enjoy the game without the hassle of spending $70 or more on release day.

In an official post, Xbox wrote, “We’re excited to confirm that Game Pass members will be able to jump into Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on day one with Game Pass”. The full reveal for the game is planned for June 9 through Black Ops 6 Direct.

The decision to put the game on Game Pass on Day One comes as a big surprise. The current move suggests that Microsoft is aiming to boost the Game Pass subscription to hit the projected numbers. While the game coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one is great news for gamers, the actual sales for the new Call of Duty game may get lower in this process.

Although it is not possible to know beforehand if the move will benefit the company or not as the game will also be released on PlayStation, the current decisions all point to this. One reason we can think of Microsoft putting all focus into Game Pass may be to create it as one of their premium services over the years. Ubisoft has also been dedicating its full focus to its Ubisoft Plus subscription and now the Rainbow Six Siege Membership.

New live-action teaser

Alongside that, there was also a new short teaser showcasing several political figures like Bill Clinton, George Bush, Margaret Thatcher and Saddam Hussein, which isn’t that surprising considering the game is set around the Gulf War.

The previous Black Ops games were highly praised by the players and while the reputation was once again lowered by the two Modern Warfare instalments, fans are once again excited to see Treyarch cooking a new Black Ops game.
