New Witcher book reveals Geralt’s age and one reason why Ciri is taking the lead

The latest book in The Witcher series has finally revealed how old the While Wolf actually is. As per the book, Geralt was born back in 1211. CD Projekt Red’s third instalment of the Witcher video game series took place 1272 making him 61 years old at the time which is much more than what fans had anticipated.

A few more years passed following the events of the game’s expansion Blood and Wine, which took place in 1275 making him 64. It’s no wonder why Geralt will not be playing as the main protagonist in the upcoming Witcher game.

It’s been eight real world years since Blood and Wine expansion released and god knows how many following the events of the previous game, making Geralt an old man. While CDPR revealed, Ciri was already meant to be the focus character, perhaps this new reason might be more acceptable for people wanting Geralt as the protagonist.

Witcher 4 will be the classic Witcher game we all love

Regardless of changing faces, CDPR promises The Witcher 4 will be a regular Witcher game we all know and love featuring character customization, build crafting, exploration, quests and even romance options. The devs are already quite popular for their storytelling, and they plan of pushing thing further with the upcoming game.

In an interview, Gamespot talked to game director Sebastian Kalemba and executive producer Małgorzata Mitręga regarding the game. Once again, while the details were not revealed, they told that players will have everything they loved from the previous game.

With how the game is being designed around the choices and consequences, players will once again have a lot of replayability. Besides, it’s not like Geralt won’t be present, as CDPR confirmed that the old man will be there, we just don’t know what role he will be playing.
