Call of Duty Balck Ops 6 saw a huge launch thanks to its wide availability, especially through the Xbox Game Pass. With all that said, many expected the game to be the final installment for last-gen consoles like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. However, new claims suggest that the next Call of Duty game will also support previous-gen consoles.

As reported by CharlieIntel on X (Twitter), there are rumors that Call of Duty 2025 will also land on older consoles. The report was further confirmed by Insider Gaming whose sources also said that the game is under development for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The news sparked a lot of reactions from the fans who were shocked to see Activision going to lengths to support older consoles. Call of Duty is Activision’s IP and the company can do whatever they want. The only reason that one can think of bringing the game on old devices is because they still sell well. Both PS4 and Xbox One were quite popular and currently have more sales than their latest gen counterpart.

While it’s true that the developers are limited by older hardware, people who can’t upgrade or do not want to will still be able to play at least one more COD game. Although, official confirmation on the news is yet to come.
