According to a recent rumor from an industry insider, playtests for the upcoming Battlefield game are "ramping up," and EA is anticipated to make some significant announcements in the upcoming months. In September 2023, EA revealed the new Battlefield game, which most fans now regard as Battlefield 6.

The company conducted extensive playtests for the next shooter to make sure it would not suffer the same fate as previous installments in the franchise.  In the realm of first-person shooters, Battlefield and Call of Duty are the most popular. Although, both games have seen their ups and downs throughout time, Battlefield 2042's debut in 2021 to overwhelmingly unfavorable reviews dealt EA a severe blow. With glitches, poor optimization, and a lack of key features from earlier games, fans criticized the most recent edition in the series as a step backward for the genre.

The 2025 year is looking to be a significant year for Battlefield enthusiasts as the game's development picks up speed. As the company purportedly gets ready to make some "big announcements" in the upcoming months, EA is once again stepping up playtests for the upcoming Battlefield game, according to an updated report from Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson.

EA is coming up with big announcements

Although, Henderson did not specify what these announcements would be, the fanbase is hoping to see some pictures or perhaps even a debut teaser, given official concept art was previously made public last year. The fans will determine when the game releases, the community hopes that the upcoming Battlefield game will be a return to form.

In the past, EA has tried to get fans excited about the game. The next Battlefield game was mentioned in passing by EA CEO Andrew Wilson back in August 2024, when he stated that it was "one of the most ambitious projects in [EA's] history" and that it was one of the studio's top priorities. Fans may not have to wait long for their first look at the shooter, since there is still no official word on when this will happen. However, "big announcements" are reportedly planned for the upcoming months.
