Netflix gives a sneak peek at new Devil May Cry animated series

The Devil May Cry animated series is racking up a lot of excitement, mostly due to the fact there aren’t many of these, despite the game being quite popular. Set to release on April 3, Netflix has now shared a new sneak peek of the show with Dante in action. Previously, fans got their first look at the show and a new key art for the series.

Produced by Adi Shankar, the show was announced back in 2018 with the fans getting a first look only in late 2023. Shankar boasts an incredible portfolio, especially when it comes to animated TV series which explains why people are so excited. He previously worked on the Castlevania franchise and his upcoming works include shows for Assassin's Creed and PUBG where he will be acting as Executive producer.

Joining Shankar is Studio Mir, a South Korean animation studio based in Seoul, and Capcom, the rights holder for the Devil May Cry franchise. Studio Mir has previously worked on other popular video game franchises like Dota, The Witcher, Mortal Kombat, and more.

Nero’s VA to star as Dante in Devil May Cry Netflix

Those who have played Devil May Cry 4 and 5 will also recognize the voice actor. ‘Johnny Yong Bosch’, who voices ‘Nero’, Dante’s nephew, will once again make an appearance in the franchise. It’s funny to see Dante in action while hearing Nero’s voice which fans pointed out plenty, but none complained.

Although Bosch playing Dante did leave a lot of fun comments with one writing, “Vergil should really spend quality time with his son. Cause his cosplaying as his uncle now”. In the game lore, Nero is Vergil’s son, and Vergil is Dante’s brother. Dante also inspired Nero to follow the path of demon-hunter for hire. Another fan said, “It feels so weird hearing Dante say Jackpot in Nero's voice after playing DMC 5 for hundreds of hours.”

What is Devil May Cry?

Devil May Cry is one of the most popular hack-and-slash game franchises that focuses on fast-paced gameplay.  One of the central characters, Dante works as a devil hunter (although he’s also half devil) who uses various armaments to hunt while collecting style points. While In theory, it may sound over the top, the gameplay becomes quite addicting with limitless combo possibilities.
