PUBG’s success in recent years has seemingly encouraged Krafton to further expand on the IP. Now, players are getting new games in the PUBG universe including PUBG: Black Budget a PvPvE extraction shooter. The game was revealed in the recent earnings report of Krafton along with a few other games.

Not much is known about PUBG: Black Budget part from some early concept art which surfaced across X (Twitter). First impressions of the game give post-apocalyptic vibes where players are left to scour resources amidst monsters and other teams.

The gritty beatdown environmental depiction shrouded with mystery further increases player interest and can capture a large audience on launch if the gameplay and other elements like co-op are satisfactory. Since the game is based on the PUBG franchise, players will see and recognize a lot of things. Maybe we’ll get to see familiar maps and weapons.

More games in the PUBG franchise revealed

Along with PUBG: Black Budget, three more related games were also announced. These are Blindspot (ARC), Valor, and another unnamed project. Blindspot was recently announced with a new gameplay trailer and is a tactical top-down shooter developed by Team ARC along with PUBG Studios. A demo is set to land on Steam Next Fest soon.

Valor is a new entry in Battle Royale games and is exclusive to consoles which is an extremely interesting decision from Krafton. The final project is yet to be revealed but will be a form of casual online game on mobile devices.

What is an Extraction Shooter game?

The extraction shooters genre has been slowly increasing its presence and remains quite popular among young gamers. They provide a fresh gameplay loop compared to the same old genres of games, in fact, they even combine multiple genres.

The genre takes a page from the open-world/open-zone gameplay formula while adding PvE and PvP elements with a roguelike gameplay loop and realism. These games are also quite fun with friends and can often get chaotic.
