Monster Hunters Wilds is topping Steam charts just a few hours after launch and has overtaken Elden Ring, Cyberpunk 2077, and Baldur’s Gate three in concurrent player count. Open Beta for the game already revealed it was going to see a massive launch with half a million players on Steam. However, the launch has made it look like rookie numbers and reached over 1.2 million players.

This is also the first game by Capcom to reach over 1 million concurrent players. With an incredible response on PC, it seems the company’s statement regarding PC gaming becoming more and more popular is true. Although players do have some complaints regarding the optimization of the game.

Monster Hunter Wilds sees a massive launch

Before Monster Hunters Wilds, the top game in the franchise was Monster Hunter: World with an all-time peak of over 330,000 players. The launch itself saw the numbers reach very close to 1 million within an hour and everyone was simply waiting for the game to shatter all records.

The weekend has just started so there’s a good chance these numbers may go even higher. As of now the game is currently at the seventh spot and may break into the top five, potentially overtaking Valve’s Dota 2 and Amazon’s Lost Ark.

Players complain about Monster Hunter Wilds optimization

While the open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds was quite enjoyable, a lot of players had complaints regarding optimizations. Some decent hardware was having a hard time keeping the game at 60 fps. Over the months, Capcom reassured fans that the game is being optimized for a better launch experience.

Sadly, this does not seem to be the case as the game currently sits at a measly 40% positive rating. A majority of the negative reviews have praised the game, however, the optimization is preventing players from enjoying the game to its full potential.
