Despite an incredible launch, Monster Hunter Wilds is facing a lot of criticism from gamers due to multiple reasons. Reaching over 1.3 million players on launch day, not everyone was having a similar experience in terms of performance. Players are also not happy about Capcom retaining the pay-to-change character appearance aspect.

While it’s not something new this has resulted in a mixed review on Steam, although the main culprit here is likely the performance. Many of the players are still using older GPUs like the RTX 20 series or RX 6000 series as laid out in recommended settings. However, the gameplay performance ever after exceeding those is bad.

Monster Hunter Wilds performance leaves players upset

At the moment, the recommended setting to run Monster Hunter Wilds is either Nvidia RTX 2060 Super or AMD RX 6600. For processors, players need a Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i5-10400 to run the game at 1080p 60 fps on medium settings along with frame generation enabled. The only issue here is. RTX 20 and 30 series GPU does not support frame generation.

Even after exceeding the specification, the performance of the game tanks. For example in our testing with the Monster Hunter Wilds benchmark tool, the game gave an average of 51 fps with RTX 3060 ti paired with Ryzen 5 5600x on 1080p high settings. However, the fps dropped as low as the mid-30s while the scene shifted to grasslands during the test.
