Microsoft reveals best-selling Xbox games of 2024

Xbox honors all the efforts of game developers for making some incredible games and lists the top 20 across four categories for the Xbox Excellence Awards.

Microsoft recently shared an extensive list of Xbox games that received the ‘Xbox Excellence Awards’. These awards acknowledge the games people enjoyed the most and bring them to a broader audience. The awards were given out across four categories - Store Rating, Player Engagement, Daily Active Users, and Units Sold.

Out of all the categories, the total number of units sold holds great significance as it is the definitive way to know which games were popular among the Xbox gaming community. The awards also honor the studios that made these games.

It’s impressive to see Black Ops 6 in the top three spot considering the game was also included in the Xbox Game Pass Day 1 release. As for the top two, gamers wanted more open-world survival vibes with 7 Days to Die, a game almost a decade in the making, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, another of Ubisoft’s open-world titles.

Sports titles from EA also remained as popular as ever among players with most of the list comprising these games. College Football 25 also saw a massive release and was the best-selling sports game among others. The Xbox Excellence Awards were also celebrated despite a rough year for consoles following Microsoft’s decision to go multi-platform. Multiple new games announced recently are getting a PC and PS5 release.
