Microsof saw a major shift in their strategy last year, allowing some of their first-party games to be available on other platforms like PlayStation and Nintendo. This multi-platform pivot is expected to grow even more in 2025.
Xbox CEO Phil Spencer has now opened up on the situation the company is in during his chat with OG Gamining Podcast. He defended the company's stance and made it clear that more games will appear on other platforms and said that they won't "put walls" around the players wanting to engage with their games.

"We love our platform and our hardware but we're not going to put walls up where people can engage with the great games our studios are building... our games will show up in more places, no doubt," he said.
Weighing in further on the subject, Spencer said that he wants people to pick their consoles on the merit of their hardware. He went on to say that Xbox is about hardware capabilities and not "gatekeeping" their games.
"I want people to pick hardware based on the capabilities of that hardware and the choices that they want to make about where they want to play. We want our hardware to win based on the capabilities that we have... hardware critical and fundamental to what Xbox is—not trying to gatekeep the games off different places," he added.

Games begin to appear on different platforms
Sea of Thieves was the first of the games to become multi-platform, followed by Grounded, Pentiment, and Hi-Fi Rush. Indiana Jones will be the next game to follow the lead in the upcoming months. In addition, iconic Xbox games like Halo are also expected to be available on other platforms.
