Recently, gaming industry insider Jason Schreier confirmed that GTA 6 is currently not facing any delay as per his sources. However, this does not mean it can’t happen down the road, he said. Now, a former Rockstar Games employee has confirmed this notion, saying a delay can happen just a few months before the release of GTA 6.

In a recent post, Obbe Vermeij claimed that while he did not have any insider information or had talked to anyone, he was speaking from experience. GTA 4 saw a delay just a few months before release, and there is no guarantee it won’t happen to GTA 6.

“The decision to delay GTA IV was made 4 months or so before the original release date. Any further, and it's hard to make the call. R* (Rockstar) is probably not in a position to determine whether they will hit 2025 until May-ish,” he said.

When fans asked if Take-Two could pressure Rockstar to meet the original release, Vermeij said it is not likely, as Rockstar has complete freedom on their decisions. With all the buzz around GTA 6, what everyone is saying is that while there is no delay, people should expect one.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was released back in 2018 and still outmatches modern AAA titles in every way. Rockstar is likely aiming for another game that will be admired for over a decade. While it may be a bitter pill to swallow, it is ultimately the truth that, GTA 6 will be delayed until Rockstar is completely satisfied with the game.
