The announcement of GTA 6 also brought multiple rumours hinting at a price that does not follow the current $70 norm. With how great the game looked and expecting it to be a technical marvel, many believe it to be true. Larian publishing director believes all games should cost more at base level and GTA 6 might be the driver.
Michael “Cromwelp” Douse, in a recent tweet, said, “Almost all games should cost more at a base level because the cost of making them (inflation, for one) is outpacing pricing trends”. Although he did clarify previously that games should also be priced according to their quality.
GTA 6 is rumoured to cost $100 on release, which is a very steep price in the current trend of $70 games players already think is a bit too much. However, this raises the question of on what basis the game should be priced as everyone has a different opinion on a game.
Will GTA 6 set the new pricing standard for games?
GTA 6 will undoubtedly match the fan expectations after so much time in development. The ongoing rumours of what can come in the game are some of the craziest things one can hear over the internet, with fans predicting things from the trailer.

Most recent rumours suggest that the game will feature a map that will see changes with time and dynamic weather, including waterspouts and tornadoes. While not officially confirmed, they do keep things interesting before the release.
CEO of Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick have previously revealed that the pricing of GTA 6 will be favourable for gamers, but the official trailer however has the fans doubting his words. The open world in the trailer itself left the fans in awe and probably send them into saving mode till 2025.
As Cromwelp said, companies might likely be waiting on GTA 6 to increase the price of their games, but what happens if Rockstar Games releases GTA 6 with a regular $70 price tag? It is hard to believe, but not entirely impossible.
